Song Cam Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company (Song Cam) is currently a business under Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SBIC). Our main function is new building and repairing ship, water transport means.
Song Cam was previously a small workshop of a national capitalist named Bach Thai Buoi. In the 1950s, due to fail to compete with foreign capitalist, he was bankrupted then transferred the workshop to Xopha factory of a Frech Captitalist
After taking over on 13th May, 1955, some Vietnamese businessmen contributed their capital to buy the workshop in order to manufacture bicycle accessories, tile making machine and build 30 tons barge; then renamed the workshop to Haiphong Mechanic Company.
On 28th May, 1959, Haiphong Mechanic Company was converted into partnership and renamed to Haiphong Mechanic Enterprise. This was a milestone for a new historical process of transforming the enterprise from capitalism possession into socialist republic possession. After that, this day is considered as the traditional day of Song Cam.
In March 1961, Haiphong Mechanical was merged with II Shipbuilding Workshop, and transformed the possession type into state-run enterprise named Haiphong Mechanic Factory.
In 1983, with the development of the infrastructure, technique and staffs as well as the scale of production, on 28th March, 1983, Haiphong Mechanic Factory was renamed to Song Cam Shipbuiding Factory.
In 2007 implementing the innovation guideline of the Government, Song Cam Shipbuilding Company has conducted capitalization. Therefore, since April 2008, it officially became Song Cam Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company having its principle place at No. 8, Chi Lang street, Hong Bang district, Haiphong city.
In November 2013, implementing the restructuring guideline of Viet Nam Shipbuilding Industry Group under the Government management and the the restructuring project of company under the Ministry of Transport, SBIC considered the infrastructure of Ben Kien One Member Company Limited as its asset to invest in the charter capital of Song Cam in order to expand the the scale of production at Song Cam Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company. In July 2018, Song Cam finished to move its principle place of business and production to a new address at Ngo Hung hamlet, An Hong commune, An Duong district, Haiphong city.
During the last 60 years, Song Cam Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company have experienced the historical processes, ups and downs, challenges on the way of construction and development following the steps of the Vietnamese revolution; and had the great achievements. From a small mechanic workshop, Song Cam have developed significantly, repaired and new-built the modern ships.
