Successful Launch of Offshore Wind Powerer ST245 for Norwegian Owner
On the night of March 24th, in Hai Phong, Song Cam Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company, a subsidiary of Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SBIC), successfully launched the offshore wind powerer, designated ST245 No. 83, for the shipowner REM Offshore.

Song Cam Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company successfully launched the offshore wind powerer ST245 for a Norwegian owner.
The ST245 No. 83 is a modern offshore energy service vessel, serving offshore wind power projects and underwater engineering activities. It is over 107m long, 23m wide, has a draft of 5.8m, and a hull height of 9.5m. It is designed for a crew of 120 people (30 single cabins, 45 double cabins, and includes an onboard field hospital).
The vessel is equipped with a flexible propulsion system, using a combination of diesel and methanol fuel, in line with the trend of emission reduction and sustainable development in the maritime and energy industries. This is not just a marine product, but also a testament to the future development of green technology solutions.
“The project was implemented under design-and-build conditions, with many high technical requirements and stringent standards. This posed numerous challenges for all parties involved. However, with the capabilities, experience, and determination of the Song Cam team, along with close support from the shipowner, technical partners, classification societies, and suppliers, Song Cam successfully controlled the project's progress and quality,” affirmed Mr. Hoang Van Tung, General Director of Song Cam Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company.
The company representative also expressed confidence that, upon handover and commissioning in 2027, the ST245 No. 83 vessel will contribute to enhancing the operational capacity of the shipowner (REM Offshore Company), while also making a positive contribution to the sustainable development strategy in the offshore energy sector.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Dr. Pham Hoai Chung, Chairman of the Board of Members of SBIC, emphasized that Song Cam Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company had signed a contract with REM Offshore Company to build a new offshore work vessel. This is a modern vessel with complex features serving offshore projects; in particular, the vessel is equipped with engines and tanks to use methanol fuel instead of oil to reduce environmental pollution during operation and exploitation, contributing to environmental protection. This event marks a significant milestone in the construction and completion of the product, building upon the accumulated experience of the engineering and worker team and the effective cooperation of the shipowner.
“SBIC will support and direct Song Cam Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company in the construction and handover to the shipowner, ensuring the progress and quality meet the expectations of all parties,” Mr. Pham Hoai Chung emphasized.
